Introduction
North Carolina Gay and Lesbian Attorneys (NC GALA) has been in existence since 1995, after approximately 50 North Carolina lawyers met with law students and representatives from lesbian and gay activist groups. As a result of this meeting, a statewide professional organization for North Carolina’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community was formed. Through its members and activities, this organization provides attorney referrals, visibility, and support for the LGBT community. We are a non-profit, non-partisan organization, and we welcome the participation of our straight friends.
Our Mission
- To establish and maintain a network of LGBT attorneys and LGBT-friendly attorneys who support the goals below
- To provide an LGBT-friendly attorney referral service to members of the LGBT community
- To discuss, educate, and promote sensitivity to legal issues that affect the LGBT community
- To advance the practice and professional expertise of the attorney members of this organization
